About Me

Brief Bio

Greetings! I am Tianyun, an MA student majoring in Interpreting at HKBU. I am interested in technology-assisted interpreting studies.

My research interests include:
  • Computer-aided interpreting;
  • Accent and rendition quality;
  • Cognitive load in interpreting (Kilian G. Seeber);
  • Computational terminology

I have established a computer-aided interpreting system (based on IBM Watson engine) that automatically detects and matches bilingual terminologies, and an EVS-analysis tool which can reach semi-automatic EVS calculation and chart generation based on ASR.

I finished a pilot research report, proving that automatic speech recognition can shift and reallocate the interpreter’s cognitive load in comprehending accented speeches. I have also published an article on Journal of Kashgar University, explaining the weakness of machine interpreting system, and proposed a solution for human interpreters taking advantage of machine translation to produce a better rendition.

Do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in this area.
